Papageno Primary School
One of the most significant new-build projects in Mitte is the extension of Papageno Primary School at Bergstraße 62, 10115 Berlin. The music-focused primary school will gain a large music hall, a library and additional classrooms thanks to the extension designed by Gruber + Pop Architects BDA. The ‘compartment school’ concept will be implemented not only in the new building but also in the existing structure.
Completion and inauguration of the extension and the artwork are planned for late 2026/early 2027.
Art-in-Architecture-Competition
In connection with this construction project, the Mitte District Office in Berlin is organising a single-stage, restricted and anonymous art competition in accordance with the Building Regulations (ABau). The aim is to create a work of art for the building that has been specifically designed for this location and is characterised by its artistic originality.
The jury will meet on 3 July 2026. The results will be published on this website shortly thereafter.
