Festival for Art and Urban Culture
mowe is a new art and urban culture festival, which transform (North-)Moabit and Wedding into a stage. Over the course of three years, the festival creates space for encounters where migrant-decolonial, queer and urban perspectives as well as artistic newcomer-positionen are made visible. Organized in a decentralized manner, the festival opens studios and project spaces, bringing art to the streets, to convenience stores, to snack bars, and to unknown locations. With performative walks, productions in urban space, and participatory actions, mowe connects neighbourhoods, local artists, institutions and initiatives.
Concept and Implimentation of mowe Festival for Art and Urban Culture (2025-27) is carried out by the Berliner collective POLIGONAL.

About
mowe builds on the diverse network projects that the Department of Art, Culture, and History has organized in the past in the Mitte district’s neighborhoods: the experiences of the Kulturfestival Wedding Moabit (2014-2015), the program coordination Stadtkultur und Vernetzung (2017-2018) or the project Institutions Extended (2019-2022) will now be connected, in order to establish mowe as a sustainable culture festival in the district.
The artistic direction of the festival is carried out by POLIGONAL. Since the 2018 the Berliner Collective works at the intersection of urban praxis, urban education, and urban culture. With the goal of making non-normative perspectives visible, POLIGONAL develops and curates interdisciplinary formats that create space for communication and discussion. This includes festivals, exhibitions, performative urban staging, outreach concepts as well as curatorial projects with themes of urban transformation, marginalisation and queerness.
