Comeback Jerry are first and foremost four friends, and only then four musicians. Their special chemistry is immediately palpable and, not least through the band’s warm, energetic sound, translates directly to their audience. In this way, Comeback Jerry manage to make even a club show with 200 guests feel like a living room concert among close friends.

The band around songwriter Christian Hansen was formed in the context of the 2023 mixtape CIRCLES & WAVES, released by Hansen on his label Wild Trail Records. Within the band, the broad spectrum of Hansen’s musical influences—from Jack Johnson to Big Thief and Michael Kiwanuka—blends with the individual roots of its members. This eclectic mix of surf rock, indie folk, modern soul, and jazz underscores Hansen’s vivid storytelling style.

In recent years, Hansen—both solo and with Comeback Jerry—has built a loyal and growing fanbase through more than 80 performances, establishing himself as a fixture in the DIY folk scene in Berlin and beyond. Highlights include acclaimed festival appearances at Treibgut Festival 2025 and a sold-out LP release concert at Studio dB.

In June 2026, Hansen’s intimately told EP TALES OF LIGHT & other stories will be released on Wild Trail Records, marking a return to his indie folk roots. At the same time, Comeback Jerry are working on their first release and further developing their sound.

 

About the Artists

Christian Hansen writes music for moments of stillness. On his new EP “TALES OF LIGHT & other stories”, he weaves indie folk, soul, and surf influences into an intimate portrait of transience.

In his songs, Hansen moves between inner restlessness and deep acceptance. He touches on themes such as connection and farewell, transforming them into quiet moments of reflection.

The foundation of his musical language was laid early: at the age of seven, he began playing drums—a training that continues to shape his refined sense of rhythm and dynamics in songwriting today. However, the decisive sonic imprint on his musical expression came under the Californian sun. These influences from surf music and modern soul already flowed into his 2023 mixtape CIRCLES & WAVES, which was created under unusual circumstances: isolated during the pandemic, Hansen recorded the songs in his grandmother’s attic.

The new chapter: “TALES OF LIGHT & other stories”

With his new EP, Hansen now takes a quieter, even more personal direction. TALES OF LIGHT & other stories is the result of still days and vivid memories. Musically carried by warm guitars and understated melodies, the new tracks trace a narrative arc from inner dissonance toward states of balance and trust. It is music that leaves space for personal reflection—an invitation to listen closely in the face of worldly transience.

Live, Hansen’s songs are brought to life by the band Comeback Jerry, infused with a good dose of groove and stomp-and-holler attitude. The four friends from Berlin blend them with influences from neo-soul, jazz, and surf rock, creating the perfect recipe for evenings that feel like living room concerts among close friends.
