Scarcity and shortages are once again the order of the day. There is supposedly no money for social services, whilst at the same time billions are being poured into war and armament. Which resources are being developed, and which are being exploited or destroyed? And what does this mean for our lives and our relationships with one another?
We often lack the attention span to understand everything. We barely have enough time to nurture our relationships alongside paid work and care work. But do we still have the strength to fight back?
We say: the world’s resources are enough for everyone. The problem is distribution. A few have a lot, most have almost nothing.
In our play development, we explore these questions in Wedding – historically and in the present day – through episodes, scenes and images.
About the Artists
Die Rote Panke is a political theatre group with strong ties to Wedding. We were founded in 2024 as part of a university project and have been working collectively and in a self-organised manner ever since. Following our street performance “Der Rote Wedding – Immer noch ROT? Oder schon TOT?”, we are continuing to develop our work.
We are concerned with the injustices of this world and want to bring them to light. We are particularly interested in everyday life experiences and the lived experience of precariousness under the pressure of the capitalist system. To this end, we gather material through observations, interviews and our own experiences. We combine historical and contemporary material to highlight connections and injustices and to politicise them.
