In recent years, Leipziger Straße has established itself as an arts hub. However, it is not only a venue for showcasing art, but also for creating it. In this edition of “Zu Gast bei…” (Visiting…), artists from the fields of performing arts and literature offer insights into their working processes and their workspaces: a tour of the Probehauszentrum at Leipziger Straße 54 – featuring open rehearsals, a reading and a discussion afterwards.

Featuring:

Robin Leveroos is an interdisciplinary artist who works under the name Macromatter. With a background in performance, design and puppetry, she explores queer approaches to objects, experimental animation and the art of play. more

Donata Rigg, born in 1976 in Konstanz, studied Theatre Studies/Cultural Communication, Modern German Literature and Philosophy at Humboldt University and the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. She has published three novels, among other works, and lives in Berlin. more

Vöcks de Schwindt is an Argentine-German directing duo whose work ranges from autobiographical performance pieces to multilingual theatre productions and various forms of musical theatre. more

Following the studio visits, Pirkko Husemann (Kulturraum Berlin gGmbH) and the participating artists will discuss the significance of places of art production and urban spaces as creative production sites: How do cities shape artistic creation, and what challenges do artists face in an increasingly precarious working environment? The discussion will also focus on the growing uncertainty surrounding living and working conditions for artists – a reality that many experience in their artistic practice.
